AVCA - Sustainable Investing in Africa Summit

A message from our Founder and CEO, Jenni Chamberlain - Thank you, AVCA - The African Private Capital Association for hosting such an insightful and forward-thinking Sustainable Investing in Africa Summit in London last week, it was an honour to chair the afternoon session! Another fabulous event with many passionate leaders, investors and innovators on the evolving role of private capital in driving sustainable development across Africa.

My key reflections from the conversations:

AI and data integrity, sovereignty and access are redefining Africa’s growth narrative - data is an enabler, but it’s imperfect. We’re dealing with huge volumes of fragmented, often low-quality data. Before we can unlock credit, design tailored solutions or align risk perception with reality, we must prioritise improving accuracy, integrity and accessibility. We must embed a “source of truth” across the system, ensuring high-quality data, rigorous standards and an unbroken focus
Africa’s agricultural potential is unmatched but to realize this, the ecosystem must be radically simplified and reoriented. That means more capital and bolder partnerships, “USD1bn for 1bn people” and recognition that much of the future of the planet in the hands of the farmers, not just investors. We need to de-risk the investment opportunity further, ensuring benefit to all ecosystem players.

I was also delighted to introduce Katherine Milling the CEO for Nature's Nectar, one of Altree Capital's investee companies, who provided insight into how Natures Nectar scales farmers and beekeepers ensuring traceable, unadulterated honey, fair price to farmers, incomes to rural communities, hashtag#green manufacturing and more than 1 hectare of hashtag#biodiversity protection per hive!

Thank you again to AVCA and all speakers and attendees for such thought-provoking discussions and connections. Looking forward to seeing how these insights translate into action and partnerships that unlock Africa’s full potential.
